Review of Microsoft Office 2010 Release

Today (16th June, 2010), Microsoft has released the Office 2010 for the retailers. It is the result of the efforts of whole Microsoft Team started right after the release of Microsoft Office 2007. This is the stable release of Office 2010 available in many languages i.e English, Chinese, Russian, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Czech, Dutch, Swedish and Finnish. Microsoft still giving the opportunity to download it from Office official site for the trial period of 60 days.

Some interesting facts about these release are:

  • Earlier version of Office was Microsoft Office 2007 with the version 12.0.6535.5002 and the version of this release is 14.0.4760.1000. Microsoft did make Office having version 13 due to the "Triskaidekaphobia" (extreme superstition regarding the number thirteen).
  • Microsoft's official slogan for the campaign of Microsoft Office 2010 is "Make it Great ". Now it is upto the customers whether they make this release really a great (just like Windows 7) or not (like Windows Vista).
  • Its beta version was downloaded approximately 9,000,000 times which is surely a record for any of the Office product.
  • Microsoft Office 2010 has variety of editions which are developed according to the requirement of the end users i.e. students, organizations, professionals etc. Complete list of editions with the retail prices is given below:

    • Starter Edition (Not available in retail markets)
    • Home and Student Edition ($119)
    • Home and Business Edition ($199)
    • Standard Edition (Not available in retail markets except the MSDN and TechNet)
    • Professional Edition ($349)
    • Professional Academic Edition (Not available in retail markets)
    • Professional Plus Edition (Not available in retail markets except the MSDN and TechNet)
